Mentors‌ ‌are‌ ‌made‌ ‌of‌ compassion ‌‌and‌ ‌competence.

We believe all new mothers should have access to non-judgmental, welcoming, educational support networks that meet them where they are and help them get where they need to be emotionally, mentally, and physically.

That’s why we’re here. And we hope you will join us.

MMF is a non-profit initiative created by like-minded individuals from across the U.S. in order to build a framework to train maternity mentors. The resulting training program enables volunteers to fill the void between sterile medical care and real life personal support. In turn, mentors train new volunteers from every walk of life to capably assist their local communities in improving maternity wellness and success beyond pregnancy.

To equip effective mentors, we provide direction for the following:

  • Engaging new moms purposefully and positively.
  • Building ground rules for a respectful relationship.
  • Accessing current knowledge about all phases of maternity.
  • Sharing strategies to handle common issues women face during maternity.
  • Curating a local resource base.

Mentors not only learn to listen and support a new mother as a whole person, but train more women to do the same.

The Kasturchand & Santaben Shah Fund

Dedicated to their life and legacy

The Kasturchand & Santaben Shah Fund was founded in loving memory of Kasturchand and Santaben Shah to support initiatives and projects carried out on the principles of humility, service, the value for human life and non-violence.

Kasturchand and Santaben were born in the 1910s. The pair did not meet each other until the day they were married -- but what a journey their union would be! They had four sons and five daughters, all of whom either became physicians or married physicians. All nine families moved from India to the same small rural town in the United States and came together to create what eventually became the largest practice in the State of Maryland.

From this practice, many innovative health care-related companies have emerged, enabling the employment of thousands of hard-working individuals who touch the lives of patients and their families in a positive way each and every day.

We are here to support your mentorship experience

The MMF is a non-profit initiative led by a diverse array of experts in the field of maternal wellbeing. Our mission is to make world-class mentorship training accessible to all who wish to serve their communities through the power of personal mentorship during this crucial life season.
